agb Environmental Ltd is an up and coming business focused on delivering fast and cost effective environmental consultancy services. We specialise in providing environmental services for developers and their agents. Specifically, we offer contaminated land, tree and ecology surveys to support development projects typically to support a planning application, or to discharge a planning condition.

Based from our offices in Newmarket, Suffolk we serve the East and Southeast of England, the East Midlands and London.

The Role of Contaminated Land Project Manager:

agb Environmental Ltd is recruiting for a Contaminated Land specialist at the Project Manager or Principal level.

This role represents an opportunity for a self-motivated and focused specialist to drive forward our Contaminated Land services. The role will take a lead in developing and delivering our services, through technical and managerial support. The position is an all-encompassing role focused on being the primary technical support for clients. You will regularly be out on site undertaking site walkovers, site investigations, monitoring and supervising remediation. You will also be expected to prepare accurate and technically detailed reports.

As a key team member, you will be expected to participate in business development, including talking and presenting to prospective clients, particularly about technical issues. However, your primary role will be leading on the delivery of our Contaminated Land services; sourcing clients and following up leads is the responsibility of others.

To be considered for the role of Contaminated Land Project Manager you must possess the following:

Fellowship of the Geological Society or full membership of another relevant environmental organisation.
A BSc (for example in Environmental Science or Geology) and subsequent formal training relating to Contaminated Land.
Ideally, at least 5 years' experience of full life cycle contaminated land projects, including Desk Studies, Site Investigations, Remediation design and supervision and Verification.
Comprehensive experience of authoring and reviewing contaminated land reports.
Technical capability to plan, manage and undertake all Site Engineer roles associated with a contaminated land site investigation, including soil logging, sampling and monitoring.
Ideally, at least 3 years' experience in a client facing role, including budgeting and tendering.
Ideally, at least 3 years' experience of dealing directly with regulators including Local Authorities, the Environment Agency and the NHBC.
An understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
An appreciation of geotechnical investigation requirements (though detailed design and assessment of results is not essential).
Excellent presentational and other interpersonal skills.
You would ideally possess:

Chartership from the Geological Society or similar professional body.
An MSc in a subject related to Contaminated Land.
Experience of DQRA (including the use of CLEA), groundwater risk assessment (RTM), Ecological Risk Assessment.
Experience of working for, and helping to grow, a small business.
Business development skills, including client sourcing.

Articulate and with a fastidious attention to detail.
Is able to attend their offices in Newmarket.
Is willing to travel to meet the business need (most jobs are anticipated within the East, South East and London).
Ideally have your own reliable vehicle that can be used for travel.
The package for the role of Contaminated Land Project Manager:

The salary for the position is negotiable based on your experience, knowledge and potential. It is anticipated to be in the £23k - £28k range depending on experience and knowledge and may be supplemented with a bonus scheme. High achieving performance of the successful candidate will be well rewarded.
