About us:
At Land Use Consultants (LUC), we are dedicated to conserving, protecting and enhancing the environment. LUC is one of the UK’s leading environmental consultancies, specialising in planning, design, ecology and management. Founded in 1966, we have over 100 employees based in London, Glasgow, Bristol and Edinburgh.
Our clients include a broad spectrum of central and local government, government agencies and environmental bodies, professional institutions and trade associations, the voluntary sector, and private sector companies.

About the role:
We are seeking an ecologist to join our Glasgow team. You will work on a range of projects across Scotland and Northern England, requiring a mix of field and office-based skills.
Involved in all stages of project development from tendering through to completion, the candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of the work carried out, including assisting with generation of new business and project support and administration. The post is based in Glasgow but there may be opportunities to work with LUC teams in Edinburgh, Bristol and London.
This is an early career, developmental role and therefore it is expected that, with experience, Consultants will gradually build upon their skills and work towards carrying out the full range of responsibilities over time.

About you:
You will have a relevant first degree and possibly a post-graduate qualification. Relevant work experience is desirable. Candidates should be competent in Phase 1 Habitat Survey and / or NVC survey of Scottish upland habitats and possess skills in at least one faunal taxonomic group (such as Scottish mammals, reptiles and amphibians, birds). GIS capability would be advantageous.
You will be able to undertake a range of survey and reporting tasks, including assisting with Ecological Impact Assessments and Site Supervision.
The nature of this work means a full driving licence is required. Also suitable candidates will be physically fit and feel comfortable working in remote environments. Lone working and working out of usual working hours will also be required (in accordance with LUC’s H&S Policy).
At least Graduate Membership of IEEM is desirable.

In addition to the right qualifications and experience, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients and an appetite for diverse projects. In return we can offer an attractive salary and benefits package.
